We love ale, great food, interesting people and culture. These are our pubs, this is our London.

If you're looking to go to a pub to wallow in the misery of the world, The Candlemaker is an absolutely terrible place to go. The whole week there is just super fun right now. Tina Turner Tea Lady's brunch was voted one of the best in the UK, Ettiboo's Bottomless Sunday Roast is every bit as fun. And we love how House Of Wax's happy hour is at 11pm. The place is lit.

It's almost time for the second best party of the year - Halloween. To be honest, sometimes we actually prefer All Hallows' Eve to New Year's Eve. So what have we got going on on Saturday 29th? Click to expand to find out.

It’s almost time for the second best party of the year – Halloween. To be honest, sometimes we actually prefer All Hallows’ Eve to New Year’s Eve. So what have we got going on on Saturday 29th? The Candlemaker are having a party with special food (pumpkin goulash anyone?) and cocktails and a DJ. Watson’s have a DJ and cocktails, plus Plumbottom’s Return, a Handmade Mysteries pop up game in the garden (also there on Friday). Hop Burns & Black are DJing at The Old Nun’s Head, throwing in a load of themed songs. The Aeronaut have a Halloween circus, plus games in the garden, as well as all their usual fun. The most convincing zombie at the Great Exhibition’s Zombie Apocalypse will win a bottle of champagne to drink amongst the promised madness. And it zombie time at The People’s Park Tavern too, with surprises that we really don’t want to ruin for you.

Here's the link to do it if you're inclined.

After a riotous launch party at The North Laine Brewhouse, the full line up of Laine Brew Co beers made their debut at The Four Thieves last night, alongside some cracking bands, great food and the cream of the London brewing scene. And the beers? Yeah, they went down pretty swiftly. Even the DIPA. Good work Thursday night crew.

Sure, we're excited that Time Out suggested that if you just do one thing in Nunhead it's that you should go to The Old Nun's Head. But better than that was seeing Nun's self-given nickname "The Ryan Gosling of pubs" in print. It's catching on.

Laine's Loves... Fleabag

As dark as it is sharp, we're loving Phoebe Waller-Bridge's raw sitcom. Click expand to find out why.

Laine’s Loves… Fleabag

Everyone is talking about it, but for a reason. Fleabag is a the sharpest, darkest, most real comedy to come from Britain in a really long time. The titular character is as fucked up as any female protagonist we’ve seen, even Girls’ Hannah. She’s just awful, but she also fun, and as self destructive as she is just plain old destructive. She’s also extremely dry and very, very funny. Catch it on iPlayer now.

Laine's Loves... Kevin Mason

Kevin has always been one of our favourite fashion photographers, but lately he's really hit a new direction that really exciting.

Laine’s Loves… Kevin Mason

Formerly best known for shooting big productions, photographer Kevin Mason has stripped back his team and approach to a Polaroid camera and models wearing no make up. But this is no dreamy Instagram approach to photography – he’s more influenced by Bruce Gilden and Stephen Shore. The real and the raw.
“I definitely fell into a trap of wanting to make beautiful pictures of beautiful people,” he told The Impossible Project. “I think it came from a kind of fear of not wanting someone to dislike the image I took of them.”
An indication of how far his confidence has leaped with this approach is that he now takes just 4-6 shots per shoot and does no editing. The results are all there on the Polaroids.

We are properly excited about our new beer, Black Nectar for a few reasons. 1) We made it with our mates Hiver. 2) It's the first beer ever to use heather honey and heather flowers. 3) It tastes absolutely amazing. Launches tonight (Weds) at the People's Park Tavern. Come down.

World tallest toddler and all round funny guy Russell Howard is bringing his rucksack of jokes to the Aeronaut tomorrow (Weds 19th). He might not carry his jokes in a rucksack - he probably remembers them in his head. But it's a nice image, right?
